Santa Bell Wreath 3

This first photo is what I had finished up to Friday morning. I was hoping to have this one fully back stitched and the next one started by today but my insomnia which had been hiting me so no stitching was done on Sunday. And the backstitching was not finished all that's left is some green backstitching and  beading. The beading won't happen until all six are stitched. Hard to work on the rest off them with the beads there. The thread tends to snag on them.

Hopefully the backstitching will be done soon and next one started.

Santa bell wreath 2

First sorry my pictures aren't of the best quality no longer have great lighting. My boys broke the stand on my good one do back to using sunlight and not so great table lamp. Medical bills are to high to even contemplate buying a new one. Some day we're be out from under theses damn bills.. I hope.
These stich up relatively fast and I would have gotten farther but the Game ofThrones  episode we were watching last night got intense and so it was put away. Probably will have this first of six done pretty fast what's left is his arm beard face and hat. Well then backstitching debating about when to bead it, after the backstitching is done or after all six are done and bead them all then. Hmm can't decide.

Santa bell wreath 1

And I have a new start!
Does not look like much yet but it's a start! Now I have already change one thing with this kit. The supposed dark red thread looked almost exactly like the medium thread which from the picture of the kit it's not suppose to be like that at all!

Thankfully I have s lot of extra thread given to me for Christmas from my husband so I was able to find a darker red that I feel worked well with the other refs in the kit. It is the darker red in my first picture. I also plan to try some embroidery soon snd may even try to sell some on my etsy shop (rainbowkitties). If and when I make some I'll post it up on here and my Instagram account (sweetgeekmomma).

Bird Joy 4

I am actually a lot farther then this now, but I'm not home and I lov taking pictures of my project after the msin stitches are done and before the backstitching is done.

I am always amazed at how big of a difference backstitching makes. Next post should have this project fully torched but probably not finished. More work is needed to put make it into an ornament. 🙂

Bird Joy 3

Ok I think I made up for the lack of stitching the last two weekends. I've been bored out of my mind because hubby is still not well enough to go out and do much yet.

Hoping this changes soon because I  admittingly loosing some of my sanity because of it, but hey I got  a lot done and since Christmas is less then six months away I need to keep in stitching up all of my Christmas presents!

Bird Joy 2

I'm Once I finish all of these I am really going to miss stitching them. Only one left after the one I am currently working on. It will be hard to find something to stitch up for my mom for Christmas after the last one is stitched up.

Secondly I want to try embroidery at fon booing s d while at Joanns yesterday I ended up buying a book that I definitely want to try some of the patterns.

Overall all the animals are really cute and small so nice quick stitches as well. Can't try yet I  working on presents for the year but I'll get around to it 😊.

Bird Joy 1

I actually started stitching this about two weeks ago while my husband was in the hospital and totally messed up in the tail.

It was all one row lower then it should have been so the body and the tail did not meet up do spent this morning taking out the tail stitches and then rest itching it. Not sure if anyone else has this issue but when I make a mistake I have a tendency to set it o the side for days, weeks even months so fixing her and picking back up is an accomplishment in itself.

Right now it's hard to tell what the background is going to be since it is agony to be a Christmas ornament it is not cherry blossom like it kind of looks like now. So far I've only started stitching the berries on the holly. Will get s not done this weekend since hubby isn't up for much and the air quality outside is only so so.

Elegant Geisha and Mr DNA finishes

It's been a rough few weeks something I do  not want to fully go into on this blog particular blog. Lot of health stuff that only stitching see,s to help though I haven't stitched at all during this weekend. For details go  here. First I finished Elegant Geisha about two weeks ago.

Overall it came out really well. The knots in her hair took me the longest to do. I practiced for about a week before I felt comfortable enough to try it on her hair. It wasn't easy but I think they turned out OK. The original frame I bought for it I didn't like, but the second one I found out at Wal Mart of all places worked out pretty well for only 8 bucks.

Lastly while I was dealing with hospital stuff for my hubby, as mentioned look at post I have linked above for details, I tried to keep myself busy by making presents for the year. I made the cross stitch item below. I found the pattern here:  It was fun and not to hard to make. I will be putting this into a shadow box and adding amber with a bug in it for my bother who collects dinosaur teeth. Well that's about it for today. Hopefully I post sooner then the last time I posted, but with how the month is going I doubt it.

Update on elegant geisha plus another finish

Boy am I really good at neglecting this place!  I put the elegant geisha for a while because I joined a nerd swap so made a walking dead fan art. I bought the pattern off of etsy and I ended up putting it into a shadow box because of the size of the project.

I actually really liked the look of it in the shadow box! Think I will do this for my geisha especially since she has French knots and a special knot in her hair. The showdown box won't crunch the knots.

My Giesha is close to just needing to be back stitched one color left off half stitches. Those shouldn't take me to much longer, then in to the backstitching and daisy stitches! And lastly the knots. Really love how she is looking.

I really love cherry blossoms and the background with it yup love it. Not sure how much stitching will get done this weekend. Have a project to work on with my son, hubby is working today and need to go mother shopping tomorrow. So I'll be happy with getting the half stitches done this weekend.

Elegant Giesha Part 5

Ok I got a lot more done on this then I thought would have. Just can't put her down. I really love the colors on this one and yes normally I wait to do the backstitching until the end but her face was really bugging me without the details.

Lastly seen other people take angled pictures of there cross stitch so I took one on Friday before most of my progress occurred.

Man I love the colors on this project.

Elegant Geisha 4

I really love the colors of this one. Unfortunately the picture just does not give it justice. Guess I need to try to take s photo of this sometime unde different lighting.
I recently realized that one of the stitches required for this one, daisy stitch, is s prominent stitch my great grandmother used in the pillows I posted pictures of the the previous post! I have never find this stitch and will be practicing it before stitching it onto this. Want to make sure I do it right. That and this crazy knot can't remember what it is called but it's like a longated French knot. Instead of wrapping the string s few times around the needle the gloss basically covers the whole needle. Definitely need to practice that one.

Saturday, February 20, 2016

Last month we went through my late grandparents' sold house I order to pack everything up. To either keep, donate, sale or throw away. Didn't have much time so it wasn't an easy task. One thing I learned while cleaning out was that my great grandmother stitched and crocheted.

The lace on these are very intracite and was hand done by my great grandmother.

Love the colors in the last one. Also like be that the hearts one if the pillow cases are all done by French knots!

So cur and woe French knots! Love the colors in the other one.

Lastly we found some of the items made by my mom and given to my grandmother. My mom is incredibly talented the Bears in the first picture are under 6 inches in length!

The patterns in the zebra and giraffe where hand painted!

Grumpy cat

Little annoyed just wrote this up and posted it and it didn't post it -_-.

Bought this pattern on etsy from sugarstitchbyellie shop. I modified it slightly changed the balloon from red to rainbow. Used thread bought from color lei. Also added the bow to the bottom of the balloon to give it a little 3D effect. Stitched this up for a friend.

Kitty tree finished

Here is my progress of the Kitty tree ornament from the last few days first here is a picture before back stitching.
Now one after back stitching which I did this morning :).

Lastly a picture of Kitty tree and Kitty stocking ornaments fully cut out. The tree originally had a yellow Pom Pom to put on the tree but I felt that was tacky and bought a yellow star button to put on it instead. Happy with my choice.

On to my next project a grumpy cat magnet for a coworker. :)

Kitty Stocking 3

Ok I'm in trouble! Got an early birthday present today some had dyed thread.

So I usually buy this type of thread online some from the UK. Which can be vet expensive so I can't do it very often. Now this thread? It was bought from a family owned store in the valley. I have a store  I can drive to with hand dyed thread AND cloth! Woohoo! Need to check this place out in the future.

I got some done on my kitty just need to finish her head and a candy cane, then off to back stitching :).

Sorry not the best picture the lighting isn't that good.

Kitty stocking 2

I did not get that much stitching done yesterday my youngest was and still is really sick. Hit a point in the afternoon that I ended up running him to an instant care because he was showing all of the signs of an ear infection. Turned out I was right poor kid hopefully the medicine kicks on fast. Anyways here is a picture of what I did do since my last post oh and Happy New Years.
